The day started with a hiccup LOL! The girls were late to our agreed meeting point at Zenith Bank, so they had to find their way down to the salon on their own by bus (I’d already left on the BRT bus to ensure I did not keep the Salon CEO waiting, knowing she’d have tried to free herself from appointments to host us).

Temi and her sister, Oluoma, are both trained hairstylists – having apprenticed under 3 different Professional Stylists from 2018 into early 2024. They offer On-Demand Mobile Hairstyling Services, as well as periodic street-based FREE promotional braiding solutions.
Since it launched operations almost 2 decades ago, Chicken Republic (CR) – a wholly Nigerian owned brand has grown its marketing reach and impact in leaps and bounds.
What They Offer
1. An innovative menu that makes average Nigerians believe they can buy fast foods on a regular basis – daily even – due to their VERY pocket friendly pricing – starting as low as N1,000.
2. Most popular was their what they initially called a “Combo meal” but which was later renamed as the “Refuel” meal – and comes in different forms.
3. Over the years, they’ve successfully added other attractively priced options such as the Citizen’s Meal, Express Meal With Chips, Hamburgers, Bucket Chicken, Pot Lovers Meal, Spicy Yam MAX Meal etc.
Little wonder the traffic of Nigerians across economic classes who frequent their outlets has been sustained!
In this video podcast, I narrate the full story (including background details) of how my 2 daughters (12 and 9 years old) – supported by me – Tayo K. Solagbade – got invited to demonstrate “How to Make Drinks You CAN SELL from Peels of Pineapples” to an audience comprising housewives, undergraduates and youths, in Ognumakiin community of Ogun State”.
Date: 14th April 2018 | Time: From 10a.m Venue: Town in Ogun state Facilitators: Temi (12) & Oluoma (9) Solagbade Organiser: BHF Foundation [3 Day Youths Conference]
The event was sponsored by B.H.F Foundation, whose CEO – after several discussions with me – sent us a formal invitation, to facilitate the event on the final day of a 3 day youth conference outside Lagos. Our training comes up on the final day (Sat. 14th Apr 2018).
The purpose of running the event in this manner was:
1. To challenge the adults attending the event to BELIEVE they could do it, after seeing my girls do it.
2. To give the girls an opportunity to develop their sales/marketing presentation skills as part of the Vocational Skills training based education they’ve been undergoing.
Play this video to listen to the narration on my YouTube Channel under the Best Practice Parenting & Schooling Category.
In this video story, I’ll narrate full details of how 5 years ago, my 2 daughters – Temi & Oluoma (12 and 9 years old at the time) supported by me, Tayo K. Solagbade – demonstrated “How to Make Drinks You CAN SELL from Peels of Pineapples” to an audience comprising housewives, undergraduates and youths, in the Ognumakin community of Ogun State on Saturday 14th April 2018.
The event was sponsored by B.H.F Foundation whose CEO – after several discussions with me – sent us a formal invitation letter, to facilitate the event on the final day of the 3 day youth conference his foundation was holding in Ogunmakin.
This video I’ve added my podcast to, was recorded using my phone, on Sunday 30th May 2021 (from 5.16p.m) by my children – mainly the 12 year old girl, along with her 8 year old brother.
They were spending the day with me, at the family house, so I could help their 15 year old sister with a Wooden Kite building Maths project she had to do for school.
In my commentary, I note that this is how they are (i.e. free/uninhibited) when they’re ALONE with me, and how they act VERY different with me, once their mother (now my ex-partner) is around.
Towards the end, I explain – using several true stories to illustrate – why making kids take sides with either parent, when there is conflict between parents CAN BE VERY HARMFUL to their normal development, and should therefore be avoided.
This is a 3:06 minute VIDEO TRAILER version of my latest Best Practice Parenting & Schooling (BPPS) video.
This version you’re looking at has been sped up about 3 times to show more footage so you can just get to see some of the slides/frames.
Now, my daughter was given an assignment from school for math. They were supposed to cut out the shape of a Kite on a piece of plywood, and they were actually told to contribute money to go and get it done with a Carpenter.
