TRUE STORY: Farm CEO asks for help using Indomie Waste to formulate rations for Catfish*

His name was Ben – and he was a Catfish Farm CEO based in Nigeria’s Port Harcourt in Rivers State.
10 days EARLIER he’d sent me a compliment, mixed with a request via my website contact form. It read as follows:
“I am excited by this website. You seem to be doing a lot of good to farmers, Tayo. Keep it up. I ran into this website during my search for feed formulation information. Hope I have come to the right place. ”
But 1o days LATER, he was back with a stinging query in which he asked why I gave him payment options that seemed destined to make it “impossible” for him to send me payment!
His email read as follows:
“You probably do not want to sell your product, otherwise why do you have to constrain your prospective customers to paying into only an account, which you maintain with a rather obscure bank?
Never heard of a bank called “Haggai Bank” and I do not think they have any branch in PH Or would you rather I travel from PH to Lagos, just to pay N7,500? I doubt.
If you are sure Haggai Bank exist in PH, send me their address to enable me make the payment, otherwise advise another option for payment…there are 25 banks in Nigeria today!”
I almost LOST that sale back in 2008.
At the time I had only been doing Web Marketing since 2005 and was still learning the ropes, so my sales and marketing instincts were not as keenly honed as they are today in 2021.
Luckily I was able to close the sale!
