This video is the first in what is going to be a special experience sharing series on BSF Farming Business Ideas.
This is just a test project.
My main goal was to find a FREE source of BSF Larva to share with members of my BSF Farming Business Ideas network. Most people have no idea they can be found (NOT ATTRACTED) existing in large colonies.
If you’re looking to start your own Black Soldier Fly (BSF) larva colony do NOT be too quick to settle for the option of spending money to buy them from breeders – especially if you live in the Tropics, like Africa, the Caribbean and Asia.
Reason is that the BSF is naturally occurring in the tropics. I’ve told members of my BSF Farming Business Ideas Network that I’ve been seeing the BSF Larva since I was a 10 year old Form One Student in Government College Ojo, in Nigeria’s Lagos (Where the Lagos State University – LASU is today), way back in 1980.
However, back then I did not know what they were called and certainly had no idea how useful they were – or could be.
This video announces a deliberate initiative I’ve launched to provide members of my network with knowledge about how get BDF larva without paying money to anyone i.e. by locating and collecting BSF larva from areas in which they are naturally occurring, so as to use them to startup their Farms’ BSF Colonies.
It shows when I first got the BSF larva for the first time, from the wild, and took them home, to begin feeding them kitchen waste.
My goal is to rear a batch of larva till they become adult BSF and then get them to lay eggs which hatch into another batch of larva. I will record and publish videos of my progress over time.
Once that complete cycle is achieved, I will then begin to offer support to Farm CEOs who request it towards doing the same thing in their respective farm locations using FREE BSF they collect based on guidance I provide to them.
Note that since I’m doing this for the first time, I will be trying to follow advice provided in resources I’ve studied (books, videos etc) over the past 6 months. However my focus will be to Keep It Simple, such that anyone who is willing but having limited funds will be able to use my approach to startup on a MICRO which over time can be scaled up.
There are a number of potentially profitable ways to engage in BSF Farming which are NOT being explored and exploited by most of those currently engaged the breeding of this valuable insect.
Most people are just blindly invested in breeding and selling the larva, and also training others to do it for a fee (while up-selling them accessories to be used). In other words, they have commoditized it at a very basic level.
I will be sharing practical, experience based ideas, tips and insights on several other smarter, and much more value adding/profitable ways you can use your creativity to make money from BSF Farming.
QUESTION: WHAT NEXT?
ANSWER: I’ll try growing them Into adult BSF + see if I can get them to lay eggs. If I fail, I will return to the source, get more BSF larva and start over.
